Review
Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney is a heart- warming story about how one person can make the world a more beautiful place. Alice is passed down a wonderful gift from her grandfather. He tells her that in her life, she should visit faraway places, live by the sea and make the world a more beautiful place. Barbara Cooney's story and illustrations take the reader through Alice's journey. She visits tropical islands, tall mountains, jungles and deserts, before she decides to find her place by the sea. Finding "almost perfect happiness," Alice realizes there is one more thing she must do in her lifetime, make the world a more beautiful place. Miss Rumphius spreads her love of the lupine flower across the land and gives her gift of beauty.
